Staff Software Engineer, Quantitative Evaluations

Design and implement quantitative evaluations and metrics for autonomous driving performance.

• •Work on the Planner Evaluation team to design metrics and evaluation methods that measure and improve Waymo Driver performance using simulation and real-world driving data.
• •Key Responsibilities Develop signals and metrics using statistics, math, physics, algorithms and ML.
• •Mine driving logs and use simulation to evaluate performance.
• •Connect onboard software changes to simulated outcomes.
• •Champion code health and best practices in a large codebase.
• •Collaborate with engineers, data scientists and leadership to deliver evaluation products.
• •Requirements BS in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Robotics, Statistics, Physics, Math). 4-7 years industry experience working with large codebases and data pipelines.
• •Experience performing statistical analyses and building data processing pipelines.
• •Familiarity with C++, Python and SQL; strong quantitative/data fluency.
