• •Waymo seeks a Staff Backend Software Engineer to build scalable backend systems and APIs improving rider experience and operational intelligence, especially in complex venues.
• •Key Responsibilities Design and develop high-impact backend systems and APIs for rider experience.
• •Architect platforms to ingest, process, and analyze city and vehicle data.
• •Drive technical vision and roadmap for backend services and mission-critical infrastructure.
• •Collaborate across engineering, product, and operations; mentor engineers.
• •Requirements Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. ~8 years backend development experience in Java/Kotlin, Python, Go, or C++.
• •Experience designing and developing distributed systems and scalable services.
• •Experience leading large efforts and collaborating cross-functionally.
